The Hub of Wishes
Each year we nominate a different charity to raise money for during our Better Health at Work campaigns. Last year, we raised funds for Mental Health Matters which saw us host events like our first charity football match (which may be returning this year…) which was a fantastic success with our staff and helped raise money for a worthy cause.
This year we’ve chosen the Newton Aycliffe based charity The Hub of Wishes.
As we have a significant presence in Newton Aycliffe, consisting of two on site offices and a large number of associates on placement it seemed like the ideal area for us to look into.
The Hub of Wishes has been in it’s current guise since October 2015, but has been operating in Newton Aycliffe for over 20 years when it was known as Newton Aycliffe Mind.
They took the decision to run independently in 2015 and have continued providing an invaluable service to the area. They offer a friendly and confidential service for those who may suffer from emotional distress, difficult times and mental health issues as well as supporting those who are coming out of hospital, helping prevent re-admission and help with re-adjustment and re-integration into the community.
Open 10:00am until 16:00pm, Monday – Friday they have the following activities:
There is also the gardening group which gets together regularly as well as monthly bus trips and parties with entertainment and raffles.
The Hub can be found at: 10-11 Silverdale House, Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, DL5 7DZ or if you’re using What3Words: ///suffix.slung.drive
