Celebration of Success – Gestamp

Everyone at GEM Partnership loves to celebrate the success achieved by our learners, given the hard work and commitment it takes to complete their learning.

We would like to congratulate Jake Ellwood and Kayleb Robinson  (Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative) for completing their apprenticeships!

The guys received fantastic feedback from their colleagues:

Eddie Williamson

I do believe Jake has contributed towards his own development, he actively takes responsibility for declaring production through Corp Sap, helps others with Sap issues, works well on his own or as a team member. Was consistently working overtime at short notice do support customer demand on L663 Cradle. Whereas previously he may of looked at others for support he now offers support to his work colleagues.

In the year I’ve worked with Jake I’ve seen a massive improvement in Jake’s work ethic, I believe Jake welding on Cradle has given Jake the opportunity to take ownership of this role, and in doing so he’s flourished.

Working in a settled position with a settled team has also given Jake the confidence to assist in areas he’s not familiar with but he’s happy to do as it benefits the team.

Wes Haley

When it comes to Kayleb I believe the apprenticeship has had a major impact on his development, giving him a wide range of skills from welding to quality  inspection , his ability to be flexible in many cells and gaining knowledge throughout the plant. I’m sure his experience will be extremely valuable over his time in Gestamp.

We also spoke to Jake about his apprenticeship experience:

I feel from this apprenticeship I have learned lots of valuable skills including , welding and various safety measures that come with working on the shop floor

I also feel like I have learned how communication is so important in the workplace, I feel this year on the apprenticeship was worthwhile as I learned about various jobs in gestamp which could be useful in the future .

I feel this apprenticeship has benefited me through giving me the opportunity to weld after a few months of operating this is a valuable skill which I’m glad to take away from this apprenticeship course. I also think the support in apprentice meetings were a big help as it allowed me to understand the company more ,(things I wouldn’t usually learn on the shop floor)

If I could offer any advice to someone starting the apprenticeship would be to be patient and don’t get stressed with learning new jobs as it’s hard at first and nobody expects you to learn it straight away , takes a lot of getting used to . Also organisation is key ( getting to work on time , right equipment)
