North East Combined Authority Partnership

GEM Partnership are delighted to announce we have secured funding contracts that should give over 800+ people employment opportunities within the North East manufacturing sector.

This includes becoming a prime contract holder within the North East Mayoral Combined Authority, marking a significant milestone in connecting talent to opportunity across the region.

The North East Combined Authority (North East CA) was formed on 7th May 2024. It is led by Elected Mayor Kim McGuiness and the Cabinet and covers the seven local authority areas of County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland (for more information visit www.northeast-ca.gov.uk).

The contracts create opportunities for residents across the region, spanning Tyne & Wear and County Durham to gain long term sustained employment or increase their skill base with some of our major automotive and manufacturing clients.

Kelly Lee, Operations Manager says:

“We are very proud that our exceptional delivery model has been recognised, demonstrating our programmes are providing the right bespoke manufacturing skills and wrap around employability training to support progression into sustainable employment or increase the skills base with our clients.

We pride ourselves in working in true partnership with our clients and becoming an extension to their business. This ensures that all of our training programmes are unique to the vacancies we are recruiting for and our highly experienced trainers who are all from industry, can bring the training to life and link to real examples in the workplace.

Our aim is to progress over 85% of our learners into sustainable employment and gain more responsibilities”

GEM Partnership boasts huge success of providing a total workforce solution, with over 1000 temporary workers on assignment at peak across the North East with a range of clients across a breadth of industries. Our collective goal is to connect talent with those organisations best placed to realise their full potential. We will identify, recruit and train workers, leading to an improved onboarding process, talent retention and harnessing the potential of a workforce.

We have an abundance of satisfied learners whom we have helped secure employment, like Claudia who works on assignment at Husqvarna:

“During my time as a GEM associate, I have enjoyed the many opportunities that I have been given to progress within my job role. I have been on multiple courses and training with GEM Partnership and this has allowed me to gain further skills to better my career.”

After completing our Level 2 LMO Diploma, we have successfully placed over 50 individuals into work across the Automotive, Manufacturing, Food and Logistics sectors in the last 12 months, who have then went on to obtain permanent contracts. A number of these individuals are aiming to maintain their learning journey by embarking on further training and continuing to progress in their careers.
